This lovely cake is graced with dogwood blossoms and formal swirly scrollwork, giving it a Southern theme. The bottom tier is lemon cake filled with almond buttercream, the middle cake is almond cake filled with coffee buttercream, and the top tier is chocolate cake filled with Mexican Hot Chocolate buttercream. All are iced in almond buttercream.

The dogwood blossoms are all hand-sculpted from gum paste.

Vineyard wedding cake

This cake was topped with an adorable pair of lovebirds that the bride found on Etsy. It features gum paste gardenias and stephanotis. The cake board is trimmed in burlap (to match the little burlap bags that held the wedding favors) and sheer eggplant organza ribbon, and the fondant on the cake board is tinted violet (but you can't see that because of the blue lighting).

The top two tiers were lemon cake with raspberry filling, the 3rd tier was gingerbread-carrot cake filled with cream cheese icing and painted with Bailey's Irish Cream, and the bottom tier was chocolate cake with a double-layer filling of chocolate ganache and apricot brandy buttercream filling. The bottom tier was iced in milk chocolate buttercream, and the remainder of the cake was iced in almond buttercream.

This cake has gum paste ornamentation, including sweet peas and stephanotis. It is a vanilla cake filled with 4 thin veneers of filling: raspberry, marzipan, peach & Prosecco, and fresh white chocolate mousse.

This cake is chocolate through and through...the bottom tier is chocolate painted with Grand Marnier, filled with apricot buttercream, the middle tier is chocolate filled with a double-layer of Callebaut Belgian chocolate ganache and peppermint buttercream, and the top tier is chocolate filled with chocolate-coffee buttercream. It's all iced in vanilla buttercream.

The flowers are hand-sculpted sweet peas, stephanotis, and mini calla lillies.

Does an elegant wedding cake have to be all white?

So I've been looking for ideas for an elegant wedding cakes, and the majority of them all seem to be white. Can I get away with a colorful cake in an elegant setting? My wedding is black tie formal in a ballroom and I just want everything to work perfectly. Any advice appreciated.

I really like this elegant cake. I think it's elegant because of the cake stand, the lighting (looks like a formal ballroom) and the cake topper. It's hard to see in the picture, but it's of a wedding ring set. Real clean and elegant I thought. Also the tablecloth looks real formal and elegant too!

This wedding cake is so proper, and elegant, and formal. I would imagine the beading on the dress matches the beading on the cake. I would imagine the beading on the cake is edible? I don't know a lot about couture cakes yet I'm afraid. Anyway, I really like this wedding cake, it's on the list of cakes I'm contemplating choosing for my very elegant wedding next February.
