Cricket for Wedding Cakes

I'm curious if any baking novices out there considering baking their own wedding cake have ever seen the cricet? I just saw one today at the craft store, and they're $400!! They work similarly to the Cricet for scrapbooking, where it will cut out paper perfectly according to a template.
From the pictures, it looked like the cake version of the cricet cut out designs in fondant or gumpaste. Whatever kind of frosting it was, it was flat and could be rolled out.
Anyway, this is certainly a shortcut to achieve some really one dimensional but professional looking cakes. If you're into scrapbooking, and want a scrapbooking looking wedding cake, then this may be worth it. Seems all you need is a white frosted cake and you can beautify it easily with the cricet.
