Edible Cake Topper
A lot of couples I work with insist on having an edible cake topper. Hey, there's nothing with wanting something and eating it too! It's all part of the fun.
Fondant Bow The most common choice these days is the fondant bow. We know you’ve seen it! They’re everywhere. These are made by rolling out a large sheet of fondant, and then cutting it into strips. The strips are assembled on the top tier to form a bow. All the strips can be the same color, or alternate colors can be used for some contrast. If you're interested in trying this yourself, then check out some of our fondant cake decorating supplies.
Flowers you can eat What else? The flowers you can eat that can be used are: roses, chrysanthemums, calendula, lavender, tulips, yucca, dianthus, English daisies, and marigolds.
Spun Sugar Spun sugar is a fancy solution too, often used on croquembouche desserts.
Sugar or Chocolate Coated Fruit Real fruit is another choice, either sugar coated, chocolate coated, or just piled in a nice looking arrangement. Everyone loves chocolate covered strawberries, right? Of course.
At a winery wedding in the Napa Valley, one of our clients had their baker pile sugar coated champagne grapes in a beautiful mound shape on the top tier. Not only did it look fabulous, but pieces of the grapes were served to each guest on their plate, as garnish. It was the most beautiful plated dessert scenario I've even seen, and Yum!
