Fall Wedding Cakes
Fall wedding cakes are our absolute favorite. Indian summer, rustic colors: golden, orange, red, mustard and brown...we love it and live for it.
Fall weddings are most popular in the San Francisco Bay Area, mostly because weather at any other time of year is too unpredictable. Well, actually, fall can be pretty unpredictable too, but not as much as other months! In the Napa Valley in the months of September and October the vineyards turn a beautiful shade of orange and yellow. This makes for the perfect backdrop for an event. Lot of the trees turn as well, really gorgeous. The majority of the time, you'll see golden, orange or brown colored leaves on this style of dessert. Maple shaped leaves are the most common. They can be made for a variety of materials: fondant, marzipan or gumpaste. One of our favorites is chocolate leaves. These are created by brushing melted chocolate onto a leaf, waiting until it dries and then peeling the chocolate off. It becomes a very delicately thin wafer like thing, that's shaped like a leaf, with a leaf imprint. Other choices are autumn colored fruits and nuts like figs, acorns, plums, purple grapes, small pumpkins, and kumquat. These can be the real thing, or formed with gumpaste or marzipan. The kids love them because they're made of pure sugar! The Rent a Wedding Cake section of our site, features some fall themed cakes that are available for rental. Renting is a great option especially if your event is outdoor in the hot Indian summer heat and you're worried about the sun on the dessert, the icing melting, etc.
