flower cake topper and decor least expensive

I just met with my baker (I'm getting married in June) and she said that the most inexpensive thing to decorate my cake with is fresh flowers. I was interested in a particular topper that was quite expensive. She assured me that it's much more cost effective to have my florist supply some flowers that match my bouquet for the cake topper. Interesting!
