Fondant Bow Cake Topper

I had a fondant bow cake topper on my wedding cake and it was fantastic. My baker did a cool imprint on the ribbons so they were fashionable. The cool thing is that fondant last awhile so I'm going to keep it on the shelf and see how long it lasts. I was thinking of putting some kind of preservative coating on it as well. If anyone has any advice on this, let me know.
