ice-cream acceptable at weddings

I wish ice-cream was more acceptable at weddings. My entire family is against me serving ice-cream sundaes at my wedding instead of a cake. There has been a cake topper passed around in my family for years that I'm expected to use. I feel so much pressure to get a cake, but I really just want ice-cream.
