My awful wedding cake disaster

by Mrs

So I am one of those foolish brides that thought I could bake my own wedding cake. I wanted to save a buck and refused to pay those huge prices for a wedding cake at a bakery. I went to the library and got a bunch of books on baking your own wedding cake and ordered all my supplies on amazon.com. I did a couple test runs and I didn't really like how they turned out but was determined to keep trying. After a few more tries and hundreds of dollars spent on baking ingredients, my cakes still looked hideous. With only two months until my wedding I decided to enroll in a cake baking class. I learned a few things, but could not get my frosting as smooth as the instructors. I think that is a talent I just don't have and never will. T make a really long story short, I ended up ordering a wedding cake from a local baker two weeks before my wedding. I actually got a really good deal on it too. Between all the cake pans, fondant tools, cake baking class and baking ingredients I spent over seven hundred dollars. I also caused myself a lot of stress, and indexed tears and frustration. I learned my lesson the hard way for sure. Hopefully other readers here can learn from my mistakes. If you're not already a confident baker, do not take on baking your own wedding cake.
