My Very Very Expensive Wedding Cake

I'm getting married this summer. Last summer I started booking all of my vendors, including my baker. I chose a very high end baker, with a main street location, tons of assistants, that advertises in every hip pub around. I'm paying $2100 for my cake. I'm having a very high end wedding that my parents are paying for.
Well guess what? I lost my high paying job in November. I now am on unemployment, and had to move out of my apartment and back home with my parents. My fiance and I were just about ready to purchase a home, which is obviously not happening now with me out of work.
My parents have offered to help us purchase a home, but have all of their money tied up in my very expensive wedding. We talked about pulling out of every single wedding obligation, and just have a simple wedding at home instead. We calculated the loss of deposits, etc. If we put all that wedding money towards a down payment on a house, my parents said they would co-sign.
I now feel stupid, that I was going to let my parents spend all that money on a wedding. My cake, especially was the most ridiculously priced.
That's a taste of reality for ya.
