Need to find a word of mouth baker

I totally cannot afford an expensive cake, but I really don't want cupcakes or a grocery store cake either. I've been reading that I really need to find a "word of mouth" baker, but how do I? Well I have a plan. I was going to post an ad on Craigslist looking for a home based wedding cake business, or someone who has experience baking wedding cakes that would be willing to bake mine. I'm going to list my requirements: type of cake, style, how many people and the price I'm willing to pay. Let's see what I can come up with!
