Western Wedding Cakes

Western Wedding Cakes are usually made so by the décor. Adding saddles, lassos, cowboy boots, belt buckles, spurs, etc. are sure to give the flair you're looking for. We have also seen creations that are shaped like cowboy boots, cowboy hats, horseshoes and hay bails wrapped with red bandannas. They are not common on the Northern California coast, but we're sure many of our cowboy friends would appreciate us including them here.

We attended nuptials in a barn years ago, and the theme was of course, you guessed it. The bride found many old lanterns in all sizes on ebay (before they became exclusive and expensive) and hung them from the rafters all over the barn. The cake was simple, 3 or 4 tiered, round, covered with mocha frosting, and had their initials on the side, that looked like they were branded. Very cool. The ensemble sat on a bed of hay, that was actually made of marzipan. Big kudos to the baker, it looked like the real thing! Miniature lanterns surrounded it on the cake table and gave it a soft glow. Simple and rustic, it was perfect.

There are also so many themed toppers to give your event just the right touch. Hee Haw!

The below mini is adorable isn't it? It's a lot of labor (as these guys usually are), but brown cowboy hats and pink cowgirl hats served for the men and women is so fun and creative.

There are many western cake toppers on the market as well, if you're going for subtle country look, and just want the topper to give the style away. Country type toppers would include, figurines of a cowboy and cowgirl, or a barrel of hay with barnyard tools, some horses, horseshoes, or a miniature lantern.

Most of the icing we see used with country styles is light or dark chocolate. Because country themed events normally use darker or fall themed colors, a darker shaded cake makes the most sense.
